Maikai Kamakani O Kohala will not be seeking public input on the future uses of Kauhola Point, as was reported in a Saturday article.

Organization misidentified
One of the organizations involved with the purchase of land at Kauhola Point was misidentified in a correction. The Ocean Warriors Program is a program of the Malama Kai Foundation.
It is the policy of West Hawaii Today to correct promptly any incorrect or misleading information when it is brought to the attention of the newspaper.
No public input for Kauhola land
Maikai Kamakani O Kohala will not be seeking public input on the future uses of Kauhola Point, as was reported in a Saturday article.
“There will be no public input as specific resource management plans are in place through a stewardship planning process of the current active users of the area,” organization founder and President Stephanie Naihe Laxton said. “This land is being held/titled as “fee simple” private property by a community-based nonprofit organization, it is not public lands.”
The article also omitted a portion of another organization’s name, the Maikai Kamakani O Kohala Ocean Warrior’s program. Maikai Kamakani O Kohala Ocean Warriors Program’s Elizabeth Pickett provided the aerial photographs of the property.
